Biography

Michele is a Chancellor's Fellow (equivalent to assistant professor) at the School of Informatics at The University of Edinburgh, focusing on theoretical aspects of cryptography, with particular emphasis on multi-party computation, zero-knowledge proofs, and blockchain technologies. His work has established state-of-the-art lower bounds for the complexity of secure computation, with the majority of his results published in top-tier venues like Eurocrypt and Crypto. Michele Ciampi received the Ph.D. in 2018 with a thesis on two-party cryptographic protocols, obtaining the Best Thesis in Theoretical Computer Science Award from the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science (Italian Chapter). After that, he was appointed as a Research Associate at the Blockchain Technology Laboratory of The University of Edinburgh. He joined The University of Edinburgh as a faculty member in 2021.
